Be Creative : Children's Summer Reading Program

Join us for a summer full of fun family friendly activities that inspire the imagination and encourage reading. The summer reading program is for all children from birth to entering the 5th grade. Older children are welcome to join the Teen Summer Reading Program. The Children's Department will offer a variety of storytimes to entertain children of all ages. A complete schedule of events is available on our online calendar or visit the Children's department to pick up a paper copy of all our summer events.
In addition to our storytimes, children can register to get their reading log which allows them to keep track of how much they read and earn prizes.

K-6 Summer Reading Program
Children entering grades K - 6 in the fall may register for the reading program. Children earn incentives based on how much time they read in any of the following ways: reading to themselves, reading out loud to someone else, someone reading to them, or listening to audio books. In-person registration for the program begins Monday, June 15th at 10:00 a.m. and continues for the eight weeks of the program, ending Saturday, August 8th at 5:00 p.m.

Young Adult Summer Reading Program
Seventh grade through high school students are invited to participate in the Young Adult Summer Reading Program, "Express Yourself @ the Library." In-person registration begins Monday, June 15th at 10:00 a.m. and continues for the 8 weeks of the program. For every 100-page book read, teens may enter the drawing for prizes. All entries must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8th. Winners will be notified by telephone.
